Ally Bank Statement Analyzer — CSV (Private & Free)
Upload your Ally Bank statement CSV and get instant spending insights—right in your browser. We don’t upload, store, or share your files. Download a clean CSV/Excel when you’re done.
- Supported: Ally CSV (checking/savings). OFX/QFX import coming soon.
- Private by design: parsing happens in your browser; nothing leaves your device.
- Outputs: categories, recurring charges, net cash flow, merchant totals, downloadable CSV/XLSX*
- Best results: export the last 3–12 months as CSV from Ally Online Banking.
*XLSX download is a CSV with .xlsx filename for convenience; open in Excel/Sheets.

How to export Ally Bank statements (CSV)
- Sign in to Ally Online Banking → choose your checking/savings account.
- Click Statements & Documents or Download (wording can vary).
- Select a date range (Last 3/6/12 months recommended) and format CSV.
- Download the file, then upload it to the analyzer above.
Tip: If your CSV has separate Debit and Credit columns, we’ll convert them into a single signed Amount column automatically.
Preset mapping for Ally CSV
We auto-detect common Ally headers. If your file differs, we’ll try smart fallbacks.
| We expect | Typical Ally header(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Date, Posted Date | Format usually MM/DD/YYYY. |
| Description | Description, Transaction Description | We normalize common merchant shorthands. |
| Amount | Amount, Debit/Credit split | If Debit/Credit are separate, debit becomes negative, credit positive. |
| Balance | Balance, Running Balance | Optional; not all CSVs include this. |
Known quirks & fixes
- ACH vs. card descriptors: We trim trailing IDs and normalize “AMZN Mktp” → “Amazon Marketplace”.
- Reversals/refunds: Positive amounts on card refunds are treated as credits automatically.
- Duplicate exports: If you export overlapping date ranges, we de-dupe by (date+amount+merchant).
What you’ll learn from your Ally transactions
- Top categories (Groceries, Dining, Shopping, Utilities, Transport, Entertainment, Fees, Income).
- Recurring charges (monthly/weekly cadence detection for subscriptions, bills, memberships).
- Cash flow (income vs. outflow) and monthly trends.
- Merchant totals and a quick fee finder.
Popular use cases
- Budget planning and monthly reviews.
- Tax prep (summarize categories/merchants, export to Excel).
- Expense reimbursements and shared-household splits.
- Finding leaks (unused subscriptions, duplicate charges).

Ally Statement Analyzer — FAQs
Do you store my Ally statement?
No. Parsing and insights run locally in your browser. We don’t upload or save your file.
Which file formats work?
Ally CSV works now. OFX/QFX support is planned. For PDF statements, export CSV instead.
How are categories assigned?
We use merchant rules + lightweight heuristics (keywords like “UBER,” “WALMART,” “AMZN”). You can edit categories in the table before downloading.
Can I fix mislabeled transactions?
Yes. Click a Category cell to type a new one; your edits are kept for this session’s download.
What about joint accounts or multiple files?
Upload one file at a time. You can merge later in Excel/Sheets using our cleaned CSV outputs.
How do you detect recurring charges?
We look for repeated merchant names at regular intervals (±3 days) and similar amounts. Results are estimates—always review.
Is this financial advice?
No. This tool is informational only. See our Disclaimer and consult a qualified professional for advice.
